These courses have been developed primarily to meet the needs of Africa.  

Should other regions require such training, this may be negotiated with ATN. 


#1      SEMINAR FOR UNION & CONFERENCE / MISSION SATELLITE CO-ORDINATORS

          [All the sections outlined below are only suggestions of the type of training we can offer.  You need to select the most useful for your target audience] 

This could be run as a Seminar in about 7 hours

1       The role of Satellite Co-ordinators at various levels ( e.g. Union / Conference/ Mission/ Church)

2       What a Satellite Co-ordinator needs to know about technical issues:

a.      Broadcasts - how they get to us and what they cost
b.      What we need to receive them and the costs
c.      Problems that cause broadcasts to fail - overview
d.      How to build up a strong technical support group
e.      Getting information from ATN
f.      Technical training - how to select trainees for best results
g.      What support to expect from ATN
i.       How to start re-broadcasting to our community (24/7 usage)

3       What a Satellite Co-ordinator needs to know about program issues (non-technical)

a.      How to get the most out of a Satellite Evangelism program
b.      Where the Satellite program fits in an evangelistic plan (4-phase strategy)
c.      Planning tools and aids
d.      How to maximize the impact of your meeting (downlink minimum essentials)
e.      How 24-hour programming will change ATN

4       Mini Media Centres

a.      What is a MMC?
b.      Benefits
c.      Video duplication
d.      ATN Broadcast standards

5       Digital Technology within our reach:   (Overview)

a.      Cameras

#2               TRAINING FOR TECHNICAL LAY PERSONS

Who should attend:

Ideally key lay persons should be selected from each area,  who can give ongoing training and technical support in the area.    Engineers, Electricians, & Motor Mechanics are often very suitable. After training, any problems with equipment should be dealt with by those trained, who need to take this responsibility.

What the course covers:

A 40 page Installation Manual is used during this training.   This training combines theory and practice, giving opportunity for each trainee to aim a dish and set up a receiver.

Time: 14 – 18 hours, depending on whether translation needed


#3               DISH MANUFACTURING

This is a 5-day workshop-based course enabling trainees to manufacture their own dishes from simple locally available materials.

Ask for the “Guide to hosts” of this training course.
