ATN Romania Interviews Actress
ATN Romania aired a special interview with a very interesting guest for
their daily television program. "In the Center of Attention"
hosted Romanian actress Maia Morgenstern, Mary, the mother of Jesus in
Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. In spite of repeated invitations
to participate in the most reputed talk-shows in Romania, Ms Morgenstern
chose to accept Mihai Gidea's invitation for her first extensive interview
in Romania following the release of the film....

and Freedom" to Premiere February 1
The first new production from ATN's studio
in 2004 will air February 1 on Hope Channel at 07:30 GMT. Hosted by a
member of the General Conference Public Affairs and Religious Liberty
Department [PARL], "Faith and Freedom" will explore current
religious liberty issues. In our world today, attention is focused on
major conflicts fueled by religious values. From religious terrorism,
to the clash of civilizations, to the culture wars, it is difficult to
understand the politics of power today without also understanding the

Official Launch of the Hope Channel – “Bringing
God’s Truth Home”
Adventist history was made on October 10, 2003, during the opening
ceremonies of the 91st Annual Council, as delegates warmly welcomed the
Adventist church’s official new television channel, the Hope Channel.
As chief “director” of the church’s media outreach, Pr Jan Paulsen pushed
the switch on the digital video switcher console, bringing to life on
screen the Hope Channel logo, and officially launching this latest media
venture of the Adventist church. The inaugural program was broadcast live
across the Americas and will be broadcast around the world on Adventist
Television Network [ATN]. The ceremony included remarks by Pr Ted Wilson,
Chairman of the board of ATN, who welcomed ATN Executive Director Pr Brad
Thorp and Kandus Thorp, as well as Pr Gary Gibbs, ATN Director for Marketing,

The Hope Channel Beams Good News to the World
During the past seven years, an astounding 1 million new members have
been added to God's family through satellite NET evangelism. In 1995 the
first NET evangelistic meeting was broadcast by the North American Division,
produced by Adventist Communication Network (ACN) and It Is Written television.
Since that time, Adventist Television Network (ATN), the General Conference's
television ministry, has developed the church's global satellite network
to include 16,000 downlink sites that blanket the globe from Rio de Janeiro

ATN-Latin America Begins Daily TV Show
August 1 marked a historic day for Adventist television in Brazil. The
first one-hour daily TV program was uplinked from the media centre in
Nova Friburgo. "Encontro com a Vida" ("Encounter with Life")
is an excellent collaboration of talent and vision from various leadership,
production and media personnel in Brazil. With financial subsidies from
the South American Division, this daily program was the dream of lay leaders,
church leaders and media staff.

Two Golden Keys Open New
Media Centre in Bolivia
A joyous group celebrated the official grand opening of the new Bolivian
Union Communication Centre in Cochabamba, Bolivia, April 28, 2003. After
the ribbon cutting for this new Adventist media centre, Pr Ruy Nagel,
President of the South American Division, and Dr Milton Afonso, Brazilian
businessman, representing the cooperation between laity and leadership,
accepted two large golden keys from Pr Eric Monnier, President of the

ATN takes another step
forward
Thursday, April 10, 2003, was a historic day for the Adventist Television
Network and the Adventist Church! On that day the ATN Operating Committee
approved the budget and plan for implementing global 24/7 broadcast. ATN
will immediately proceed with plans to finalize programming, conclude
additional satellite space contracts, secure and install a broadcast server,
and begin full time broadcasting world-wide.

Countries in Europe are now able to receive round-the-clock broadcasts
in both Spanish and Portuguese.
Programming from ATN Latin America is now fully accessible by churches
and other viewers in Europe on the C-band.

ATN Broadcasting Goes 24/7
ATN is very happy to announce satellite contracts have been concluded
early in November 2002 which gives essentially full-time world-wide coverage
for ATN broadcasts. Other contracts have been re-negotiated that provide
a large expansion of current ATN broadcasts. Full time broadcast on these
new satellites is expected to begin the first quarter of 2003.
