March 3, 2004, ATN Romania aired a special interview with a very interesting guest for their daily television program. "In the Center of Attention" hosted Romanian actress Maia Morgenstern, Mary, the mother of Jesus in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. In spite of repeated invitations to participate in the most reputed talk-shows in Romania, Ms Morgenstern chose to accept Mihai Gidea's invitation for her first extensive interview in Romania following the release of the film. The 45-minute long discussion was very lively, sometimes passionate, with an accent on the spiritual and social dimensions of the movie. The actress, of Jewish origins, dismissed the accusations of anti-Semitism against the film. Well known for her stance against violence in theatrical and cinematic performances, she considered the movie not to be inappropriately violent. She also spoke on the way she was enriched spiritually and culturally during the eight month of working in Rome for The Passion of the Christ. "In the Centre of Attention" airs Monday - Friday during prime time across all of Romania, and is viewed and appreciated by thousands.
